How to use the Sage Smudge stick safely
- Prepare Your Space: Ensure your space is well-ventilated, with windows or doors open to allow smoke to clear.
- Light the Sage: Hold the sage bundle at a 45-degree angle, lighting the tip until it starts to smolder and produce smoke. Gently blow on the flame until only embers are left, creating a steady stream of smoke.
- Smudge Your Space: Move through the space you want to cleanse, waving the stick gently to disperse the smoke. Focus on areas like doorways and windows, directing the smoke with slow, circular movements.
- Its recommended to hold a ceramic or fire proof bowl under neath the sage with the other hand whilst it is smoking to catch any ambers, ash that may become loose.
- Extinguish Properly: Once finished, press the smudge stick’s tip into a fireproof bowl, sand, dirt or a similar material to extinguish the embers completely. Ensure the stick is fully out before leaving it unattended.
Standard Australian Warning Note:
- Fire Hazard: Do not leave sage smudge sticks unattended while burning. Ensure proper extinguishment to prevent accidental fire.
- Keep Out of Reach of Children and Pets: Sage smudge sticks should only be used under adult supervision.
- Allergy Warning: If you or anyone nearby has respiratory sensitivities, consult a healthcare provider before use. Avoid direct inhalation of smoke.
- Use in Well-Ventilated Areas: Excessive smoke inhalation can lead to respiratory discomfort; always burn in spaces with adequate ventilation. This product is not suitable for individuals with asthma, other respiratory conditions, or smoke sensitivity.
- Fire-Safe Surfaces Only: Burn sage on a non-flammable surface, such as a ceramic or metal dish, to contain any ash or embers, if walking through your home it is recommended to hold the sage smudge stick over a ceramic or metal dish to contain any lose ambers.
